Your Brunswick crew

Our Brunswick crew is based here and covers the Golden Isles and the coast between Darien and St. Marys. Island homes, family houses being cleared after a loss, and older homes on the mainland are all part of the work.

Every job starts with a conversation, then a walkthrough with you, then a written plan that says what we’ll do, in what order, and what it costs. On work days we sort with you. Papers, photos, and anything that might matter are set aside for you to see. Nothing is thrown away because it looks like clutter.

What’s different about cleanup in Brunswick

In Glynn County, the City of Brunswick and the county run separate services, and that changes who you call and what the rules are.

Doing some yourself?

Local disposal rules, if you’re clearing some things yourself

If you’re starting on your own, these Glynn County rules are worth knowing. Check the linked page before you rely on one.

When we do the work, hauling and disposal are part of the plan. You don’t need to arrange any of this.

  1. 1

City of Brunswick: one bulk pickup a month

City residents get one scheduled bulk pickup a month. Call Sanitation at (912) 267-3703 first. Piles can be up to 6×6×6 feet, with no construction debris, chemicals, batteries, or tires.

  2. 2

Glynn County: two free bulk pickups a year

County residents get two free bulky-item pickups and two appliance pickups a year. Schedule at 912-554-7111. A missed set-out still counts against the yearly allowance.

  3. 3

Drop-off centers on the mainland and St. Simons

Young Lane in Brunswick and the St. Simons center (behind the Demere Road Farmers Market) charge $40 a load, cash or check. Habersham Street charges by the ton. None accept paint or hazardous materials.

  4. 4

Ask before putting a container on the right-of-way

Glynn County requires a Right-of-Way Use Permit for work in the county right-of-way. Its page doesn’t mention dumpsters, so ask the Right-of-Way Coordinator (912-554-7492) before a container goes on the road edge.

Questions

Questions from Brunswick families

Do you work on St. Simons, Sea Island, and Jekyll?

Yes. The Brunswick crew covers the islands as well as the mainland, from Darien down to Kingsland and St. Marys. Island jobs sometimes need more planning for parking and hauling, and we’ll talk that through at the walkthrough.

Why are bulk pickup rules different for my parent’s house and mine?

Because the City of Brunswick and Glynn County run separate services. City residents get one scheduled bulk pickup a month. County residents, including St. Simons, get two free bulky-item pickups a year. The address decides which applies.

We’re clearing a parent’s home in the Golden Isles from out of town. Can you help?

Yes, and it’s common here. Tell us what you’re hoping to find. Papers, photos, and anything on your list are set aside for you to review, and we’ll agree on how you’d like to stay involved if you can’t be there in person. Old statements and records can go to a shredding service instead of the trash.

Where can old paint and chemicals go in Glynn County?

Glynn County drop-off centers don’t accept them, and we couldn’t find a regular collection day. Keep Golden Isles Beautiful (912-279-1490) or the state Environmental Protection Division’s local office (912-264-7284) can tell you current options. Never pour them down a drain or onto the ground.

Is there a hoarding task force in Glynn County?

We couldn’t find one. For an older adult, the Coastal Georgia Area Agency on Aging (1-800-580-6860) is a good first call for services. If you’re worried about someone’s safety, call Georgia Adult Protective Services at 1-866-552-4464.
